This tour is the perfect way to see the picturesque Dutch villages near Amsterdam on your trip to the Netherlands. Departing from the capital, you'll get to see the famous windmills and the incredible Waterland region, whose scenery looks like something out of a fairytale.
At the first stop of the tour, Zaanse Schaans, you will learn about the history of the village, you will walk through and photograph the most famous windmills in the country and the traditional 15th century houses, nestled in the middle of nature. We will also visit a clog shop to learn the secrets of this traditional Dutch shoe.
We will return to the road for a few minutes to enter the municipality of Waterland: dykes, polders, locks and the spectacular palette of greens that characterise it will accompany you along the route.
We will reach the village of Edam, a village as peculiar as its famous cheese. We will walk through its narrow streets. Houses surrounded by canals and bridges, as well as the spectacular churches of Christian and Protestant tradition reflect the Golden Age of the Netherlands.
We will continue our route until Volendam, a fishing village of small colourful houses and original shops. Here we will enjoy an aperitif tasting the most typical product of the Dutch farm: cheese.
There will be free time for lunch, which you can have on your own or choose the menu option offered with the tour. After strolling through the charming streets overlooking the canals or relaxing on a terrace, we will reach the last village of the tour.
