Begin your journey with a peaceful kayak ride through the mangrove forests of Uzi Island. Paddle along calm waterways surrounded by twisting mangrove roots and tropical scenery while your guide explains the importance of these forests to Zanzibar’s ecosystem. Along the way, you may spot crabs, kingfishers, herons, and other local wildlife. The kayaking experience is suitable for beginners and offers a relaxing way to explore one of Zanzibar’s hidden natural treasures.
After the kayaking tour, continue to a local spice farm where you will discover why Zanzibar is known as the “Spice Island.” Walk through the farm with your guide and see, smell, and taste fresh spices such as cloves, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom, and black pepper straight from the plants. You will also learn about the history of Zanzibar’s spice trade and how the spices are used in local cooking, medicine, and traditional life.
The experience ends with a freshly prepared Swahili lunch served at the spice farm, including local dishes, tropical fruits, and soft drinks.
