What you can expect

  • Step into the most authentic heart of Monferrato and enjoy a private experience dedicated to one of Piedmont's iconic products: the hazelnut.

At the F.lli Durando Farm in Portacomaro, you will be welcomed in a warm and intimate atmosphere with a welcome drink, to begin a journey through aromas, flavours and ancient farming traditions.

The Hazelnut School is not just a food tasting, but a genuine sensory and hands-on experience. You will discover up close how hazelnuts are selected and processed, observing the different stages of processing and learning to recognise the aromas, textures and characteristics of the product.

One of the most engaging moments will be the one dedicated to roasting, when the intense aroma of hazelnuts will accompany the explanation of the secrets and techniques that make it possible to transform this precious nut into a delicious spread.

During the tour, you will also be able to taste the hazelnuts at different stages of processing, discovering how their flavour, aroma and texture change.

Then it will be time to get your hands dirty. Guided by an expert, you will become a true artisan for a few hours: you will experiment with combining the ingredients and personally make your own hazelnut spread, customising it to your taste.

The spread will finally be placed in an elegant glass jar. You can also design and personalise your own label, turning the jar into a unique souvenir of the experience to take home.

The workshop lasts about 2 hours and is offered as a private session for a maximum of 4 participants, ensuring an intimate and personalised experience.

To make the day even more special, you can combine the Hazelnut School with lunch at the Terra d'Origine Agritourism. A reserved table will welcome guests for a food tasting menu dedicated to the flavours of the region, prepared with carefully selected ingredients and “zero food miles” products.

The most representative dishes of Piedmontese tradition will be accompanied by a selection of wines from the farm, completing a route that tells the storey of Monferrato through its products, its people and its culinary culture.

An exclusive experience designed for those who want to go beyond a simple visit and experience Monferrato as a protagonist, meeting the producers, learning artisanal skills and taking home something they have created with their own hands.
