Muscat when the lights come on – experience the capital in the evening: private, in German, and without time pressure.
This 3-hour evening tour shows you Muscat at its most atmospheric. You will be travelling exclusively with your own group (max. 4 people) – accompanied by me, Mohammed, an Omani guide with experience in Germany. I know what German-speaking guests value: quality, organisation and personal service without any rush.
We start at the Royal Opera House Muscat, an architectural masterpiece – beautifully lit in the evening. I will tell you about Sultan Qaboos' vision and the special connection between Omani tradition and European culture. Afterwards, we'll stop for photos at the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, whose façade is particularly impressive in the soft evening light.
We will then stroll through the Muttrah Souq, one of the oldest markets in the region – bustling with life in the evening, with scents of incense and spices. A walk along the Muttrah Corniche reveals views of the harbour, traditional dhows, and the mountains. Finally, we explore the old city with the Al-Alam Palace and the illuminated Portuguese forts of Al Jalali and Al Mirani.
Incidentally, the evening is the most pleasant time for a city tour: mild temperatures, soft light – and the city comes alive. Here you will encounter the people of Oman in their daily lives.
If you wish, we can end the evening with a cup of Omani coffee or a traditional evening meal (optional, payable on site).
This tour is perfect for the day of arrival, the last evening of your trip, as a complement to our day tours – or for cruise passengers staying overnight in the harbour.
