What you can expect

  • Our Etna Adventure 4x4 off-road tour is the first and only tour from Catania to Rifugio Sapienza on Mount Etna and offers an off-road adventure to explore the volcanic landscape.
    The route includes significant stops to explore with a licensed guide:

    • Cava Asero: An area of interest due to its geological features and the fact that it is a now-disused lava quarry (30-MINUTE STOP)
    • Serra La Nave Pine Forest: A pine forest that often marks the transition to higher altitudes and offers a contrast between the vegetation and the lava rock.
    • Teseo Screpolato: a monumental bronze sculpture located at a spectacular viewpoint (10-minute stop)
    • Rifugio Sapienza (final stop): Located at about 1900 metres on the south side of Mount Etna, this is the arrival point where you can admire the Silvestri Craters. (2.5-hour stop)

    This type of tour combines driving on dirt roads among lava flows and forests with the aim of explaining the geology, flora and eruptive history of the volcano.

    The tour is unsuitable for:
