Know before you book

  • The pick up transfer is only available from selected centrally located hotels. If your hotel is outside the geographic area, we will confirm you the closest meeting point. Please, indicate the name and address of your hotel.
  • Not recommended for travellers with back problems, pregnant travellers or passengers with heart problems or other serious medical conditions.
  • Travellers should have a moderate physical fitness level.
  • Is is recommended to bring a bottle of water ,waterproof gloves and hat, sun cream, sunglasses, waterproof clothing and high-top boots or snow boots.
  • This experience requires good weather. If it’s cancelled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund.
  • The minimum recommended age to participate in this excursion is 9 years old.
  • Warm clothing and waterproof trekking boots are mandatory. Dress in layers (thermal layer or fleece), waterproof jacket and pants, gloves, hat, and neck warmer/buff. The guide may deny participation if proper gear is not worn.

What you can expect

From 8:00am we will depart to the Tierra Mayor valley, located 20 km from the city. At the beginning of the road you will find our refuge and from there we will start our hike through peat bogs, streams and centenary forests of lenga and coihue trees. If we're lucky, it is possible to see local wildlife such as foxes, condors and beavers.

After almost 2 hours we will reach our goal: the Esmeralda Lagoon, one of the most impressive landscapes of this region.

This lagoon is located in the heart of the Tierra del Fuego Natural and Landscape Reserve. The colour of the water added to its geographical location, in the Cordillera Fueguina, invites us to stop and rest on its banks while appreciating the stunning scenery It will also be the place chosen to enjoy our Box Lunch to recover energies.

After that, we will return to the refuge through a different route than the one we took in the beginning so that we can continue exploring the region. From the refuge, we will return to our hotels around 16:00 hours, bringing the journey to an end.
