What you can expect

  • See Otago Harbour from a different perspective as you and your bike cruise across the water aboard Dunedin's dedicated bike ferry.

Designed for cyclists and e-bikes, this unique harbour crossing connects some of the region's most scenic riding. Link into Te Aka Ōtākou, explore the roads and bays of the Otago Peninsula, visit Portobello, or simply create your own cycling adventure around the harbour.

As you travel across the water, enjoy uninterrupted views of Otago Harbour's rolling hills, sheltered bays, volcanic landscape and ever-changing coastal scenery. The crossing itself becomes part of the journey, offering a chance to slow down, take in the surroundings and experience the harbour from a viewpoint few visitors see.

Our friendly crew will load and unload your bike, making it easy to continue your ride on the other side. Whether you're planning a full-day ride, a multi-day cycling tour, or a relaxed e-bike exploration, the Otago Harbour Bike Ferry opens up more of Dunedin's spectacular harbour and peninsula for you to discover.

More than just a transfer, this is a memorable cycling experience that combines the best of Dunedin's harbour, landscapes and riding routes in one seamless journey.
