What you can expect

  • Day 1: Djerba – Matmata – Tamezret – Zeraoua

    • Departure by 4×4 at 7:30 AM from your accommodation in Djerba.
    • Visit Matmata and its famous troglodyte dwellings.
    • Hike to Tamezret, then to Zeraoua, a small Amazigh village with authentic charm.
    • Culinary workshop: prepare a traditional wood-fired couscous with the women of the village.
    • Dinner and overnight at Dar Ayed in Tamezret.
      Hiking distance: ~10 km – Elevation gain: moderate.
      Day 2: Zeraoua – Ksar Hallouf – Zammour
    • Hike to Ksar Hallouf, an ancient fortified granary.
    • Enjoy an open-air lunch featuring local specialities.
    • Arrive in Zammour and receive a warm welcome from the locals.
    • Culinary workshop: learn to make tabouna bread and chakchouka with local olive oil.
    • Overnight in a troglodyte house, Dar Ennaim in Zammour.
      Hiking distance: ~12 km – Elevation gain: moderate to challenging.
      Day 3: Zammour – Chenini – Return to Djerba
    • Hike to Chenini, a hilltop village offering panoramic views of the mountains and desert.
    • Guided tour and tea break with the locals.
    • Culinary workshop: prepare a Berber dish followed by a traditional lunch.
    • Return by 4×4 to Djerba in the late afternoon.
