What you can expect

  • Our Dia de Muertos Tour begins with a comfortable drive from Mexico City to the charming town of Atlixco. Along the way, your guide will share great stories about the history and spiritual meaning behind this unique Mexican holiday.

    Our first stop is the beautiful cempasuchil fields. These golden marigold flowers are the main symbol of the holiday, used to guide the souls of loved ones back home. You will walk through the fields and local nurseries to see how farmers grow these sacred flowers and learn about their importance to local families.

    Next, we will head up to a scenic viewpoint to enjoy a great panoramic view of the town and the big mountains in the distance. Afterwards, we will walk down La Escalera Ancha (The Wide Stairs). This famous street is completely decorated for the season, offering a great festive atmosphere and perfect spots for photos.

    Our journey continues to the incredible Valle de las Catrinas. Here, you will discover a grand display of thirteen giant Catrina figures placed around the town. Each massive figure is beautifully painted and decorated to honour the spirit of the holiday. While exploring, you will also get to try traditional sweet pan de muerto bread along with a warm cup of atole.

    As the day ends, we will hop back on our vehicle to return to Mexico City, carrying unforgettable memories of the colour, music, and culture of the Day of the Dead in Atlixco.
