Eltz Castle, towered high on a large rock in a side valley of the river Moselle is the epitome of a medieval castle. The fascinating architecture with its mighty walls, towers, timber frame structures, oriels and turret.
During a guided indoor visit you can listen to the exciting history of the castle and their inhabitants. Eltz has never been destroyed and the original equipment survived the centuries: the authentic furniture and decorations tell the storey of life and work in a knight’s castle. The original state of the large kitchen with all its utensils, the knight’s hall with arms and armours, the living and bedrooms, the halls and the weapon room are richly furnished.
The treasure vault displays an extensive private collection: most valuable, masterful Gold- and Silversmithing, precious glassware and porcelain, jewellery, splendour- and war weapons.
Our way to the castle and back leads through typical German natural landscapes. Last stop before Frankfurt is a charming restaurant at the edge of the Rhine river: time for a meal.
