We start at our agency or pick you up at your accommodation at 7 AM to begin our tour of Villarrica National Park, 50 kilometres from Pucón. The first town we pass is Curarrehue, which means “Stone Altar” in Mapudungun, the native language of the Araucanians. This territory is shaped by glaciers. We continue to climb through the Trankura Valley surrounded by beautiful rock walls. We'll arrive at the park, where we'll prepare our equipment and start the hike through a forest of coihues and raúlises for a distance of 3.2 kilometres with a 700-meter elevation gain. In the upper part, we'll find ancient araucarias, and the forest opens up to reveal the rock gully and the araucarias growing in its fissures. Here we'll take a short break to put on our helmets, put away our poles, and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley.
The next section is very interesting and entertaining. It covers a distance of 700 metres with a 400-meter elevation gain. We arrive at the foot of the trail, a magical place surrounded by Torres, giant rocks where the shelters are located. There is a small valley with crystal-clear water surrounded by chauras, a true paradise, with rock climbs and fixed rope sections. At the end of the gorge, we arrive at the foot of the trail, a magical place surrounded by Torres, giant rocks where the shelters are located. There is a small valley with crystal-clear water surrounded by chauras, a paradise in the mountains. From the main towers, we'll enjoy incredible views of Las Peinetas or Sierra Millallifen, which is 2,018 metres above sea level, Punta Lanín, and the main tower, as well as panoramic views of Lake Tromen and the Villarrica, Lanín, and Quinquil volcanoes. Most of the time, Andean condors accompany us with their spectacular flights. Here, we'll take a break, appreciate the place, have a snack to celebrate, and prepare our equipment for the descent to the valley.
After enjoying incredible views, we will begin the descent along the same route. The tour guide will explain the instructions for the descent, as we will have to perform rappelling manoeuvres. After descending for 4 hours, we will arrive at the transport, where we will have natural juice or craft beer and a snack to conclude this mountain experience. Then we will begin the return to the agency, or we will drop you off at your accommodation.
