Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Nyerere – Sunset Boat Safari on the Rufiji River
Your unforgettable safari begins in the morning with a warm welcome from your expert driver-guide, who will meet you at your hotel, airport, or ferry terminal in Dar es Salaam. After a short briefing, hit the road for a scenic 6-hour drive to Nyerere National Park. The journey takes you through bustling towns, local villages, and remote countryside offering a taste of authentic Tanzanian life along the way.
Arrive at the park by early afternoon and check in at Selous River View Lodge (or a similar riverside retreat). After a freshly prepared lunch, take some time to relax before the real adventure begins.
At around 4:00 PM, head out for a boat safari on the mighty Rufiji River a highlight unique to Nyerere. Glide past lush riverbanks lined with tall palms and spot hippos wallowing, crocodiles sunbathing, and colourful birdlife like fish eagles, kingfishers, and bee-eaters. As the sun sets behind the savannah, the sky glows orange and gold, casting reflections on the water for a picture-perfect end to the day.

Day 2: Game Drive Safari & Return to Dar es Salaam
Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy an early breakfast before setting off on a morning game drive through the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park one of Africa’s largest and most untouched reserves.
Your experienced guide will take you through a variety of landscapes: open plains, miombo woodlands, winding rivers, and hidden waterholes. This is one of the few places in East Africa where you can still see rare wild dogs, along with Lions, Elephants, Giraffes, Zebras, Buffaloes, Hippos & crocodiles and Over 400 species of birds. Capture unforgettable wildlife moments and enjoy thrilling sightings in peaceful, uncrowded settings far from the tourist crowds of northern Tanzania.
After a bush lunch at the lodge or picnic area, begin your journey back towards the main gate, enjoying a final chance to spot animals along the way. Depart Nyerere in the early afternoon and arrive in Dar es Salaam by evening (approx. 6:00–7:00 PM) with drop-off at your hotel, airport, or ferry terminal.
