Scenic Drive:
During the 3-hour drive, your professional guide will share fascinating insights into Andean traditions, mountain rituals, and the meaning behind the sacred colours of Palcoyo.
Breakfast Stop:
Enjoy a delicious local breakfast in a small Andean restaurant before continuing the journey to the trailhead.
Short Hike to Palcoyo (4,900 m / 16,076 ft):
Unlike the challenging Vinicunca trek, the Palcoyo trail is gentle and accessible to everyone. Walk for about 40 minutes through surreal landscapes of multi-colored mountains, Andean wildlife, and the Stone Forest, a formation of natural rock pillars shaped by centuries of wind and weather.
From the viewpoint, you’ll have a stunning panorama of the Ausangate Glacier (6,372 m / 20,900 ft), the highest and most sacred mountain in southern Peru.
Photo & Cultural Time:
Take amazing photos of the rainbow hills and meet local Quechua shepherds with their llamas and alpacas. Your guide will help you learn about their ancestral lifestyle and deep connection with the land.
️ Lunch in a Local Village:
After exploring, enjoy a warm Andean lunch prepared by a local family, featuring traditional dishes made with fresh mountain ingredients.
Return to Cusco:
Relax on the scenic drive back to Cusco. Arrival is around 5:30 – 6:00 p.m.
