After pickup from the hotels and meeting point we head to the first stop that is the Monument of the Valderrama pibe, gigantic bronze sculpture, 6 metres high and weighing more than eight thousand kilos, by the master Amílcar Ariza, has captivated foreigners and samarians alike. The statue has a great charm, you can see that the artist demanded himself thoroughly, “stuck the token” – as they say in football slang – and that is perceived in the rich details of the work.

Then we head to the cathedral church or Sagrarian Parish and San Miguel is a Renaissance style Catholic temple located in the historic centre of Santa Marta, Colombia. It was the first built in ecclesiastical jurisdiction in South America.[1]1] In the 19th century, it housed the remains of Simon Bolivar for 12 years. Since 1953 it has housed the remains of Rodrigo de Bastidas, the founder of the city. However, the oldest church in Colombia is the church of San Francisco in Bogotá, built between 1557 and 1560.
