Detroit's Guardian Building rises 40 stories above the city's Financial District, a landmark completed in 1929 and hailed as one of the finest Art Deco skyscrapers in the world. Designed by architect Wirt C. Rowland of Smith, Hinchman & Grylls for the Union Trust Company, the building earned the nickname "Cathedral of Finance" for its cathedral-like massing, a taller north tower and smaller south tower joined by a nave-like block, echoing the reverence once reserved for the Woolworth Building in New York. Its exterior is clad in 1.8 million orange bricks and other stone from around the country. A semi-dome of custom Pewabic Pottery tile at the Griswold Street entrance and a mural by artist Ezra Winter in the upper banking floor are stunning. The work of roughly 40 artisans brought its painted ceilings, stained glass, and marble details to life. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1989, the Guardian Building remains one of city centre Detroit's most striking architectural treasures.

The Belt is an activated alley in Detroit's former Garment District, next to the Z Garage. Transformed from an overlooked service corridor into an open-air art gallery and entertainment hub, it features striking international murals, rotating art installations, and popular local bars.

Detroit's Greektown district has worn many faces over the years. First settled by German immigrants, the area has since been home to a bustling seed company, a high-volume tannery, and a festival marketplace, each leaving its mark on the area's character. Today, Monroe Street tells a new chapter: a pedestrian-only streetscape lined with outdoor dining options. But it's the layers of history beneath the surface that give Greektown its depth, turning a simple stroll down the block into a walk through Detroit's past.

Grand Circus Park has anchored city centre Detroit since 1850, when it was laid out as part of Judge Augustus Woodward's post-fire redesign of the city, its distinctive semicircular shape a nod to his radial street plan. Origanally planned as a complete circle, the five-acre green space is ringed by some of Detroit's architectural landmarks, including the David Whitney Building, the Kales Building, Central United Methodist Church, and the Detroit Opera House. Within the park, Henry Bacon's 1921 Russell Alger Memorial Fountain and statues of former mayors William Maybury and Hazen Pingree add historical texture. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Grand Circus Park remains a green centrepiece where Detroit's past and present meet.
