What you can expect

Stop 1: Siu-mai & Brown Sugar Jam Cake. A true local favourite and a great start to your food journey! Try the translucent, thin-skinned “Crystal Siu-mai” (steamed sticky rice dumpling) — savoury, chewy, and full of flavour. Refresh your palate with a bowl of Brown Sugar Jam Cake, soft and chilled, with just the right sweetness.

Guided Walk: Kuan-Zhai Alley (Wide-Narrow Lane). One of Chengdu’s most famous heritage streets, mixing Qing-dynasty charm and modern life. Explore traditional courtyards, old teahouses, folk crafts, and Sichuan opera masks. It’s the perfect spot for cultural photos and learning about Chengdu’s laid-back lifestyle.

Stop 2: Handmade Sweets Shop. More than just a sweets shop—it’s a nostalgic sweet time machine! Watch live demonstrations of traditional sweets hammering. Sample a mix of Nougat Milk Sweets, Handmade Pork Jerky, and Milky Pull-Candy. Great for picking up gifts or taking retro-style photos.

Stop 3: Doutangfan (Bean Soup Rice). A hidden local gem serving a comforting dish unique to Chengdu. Try their signature Clay Pot Vegetarian Bean Soup with Rice, a heartwarming dish packed with soft soya beans and rich flavour. Light, healthy, and rarely found outside of Sichuan.

Guided Walk: Pao Tong Shu Street. A quiet, artsy alley filled with personality. Browse indie shops, handmade crafts, vintage boutiques, and design studios. A favourite hangout for young locals—laid-back, photogenic, and full of surprises.

Stop 4: Laozao (Fermented Sweet Rice Wine Soup). Sweet soup lovers, this one’s for you! Sip on a bowl of Fermented Sweet Rice Soup — warm, floral, and cosy. A unique non-spicy dessert traditionally enjoyed during cool evenings.

Stop 5: Dan Hong Gao (Mini Egg-Puffed Cakes). A street snack legend in Chengdu—crispy on the edges, fluffy inside. Pick two flavours of Egg-Puffed Cakes (like cheese-bacon, grape & cream, rose jam, red bean). Made-to-order on copper griddles, they’re fun to watch and delicious to eat!

Stop 6: Bingfen (Ice Jam). End on a cooling high with Chengdu’s favourite summer treat. Build your bowl of Bingfen (Ice Jam) with toppings like brown sugar syrup, peanuts, raisins, and osmanthus. Located in the bustling Kuixinglou Street, a perfect place to continue exploring after the tour.
