This pre-Hispanic ceremonial centre, located high on a mountain, was the capital of the ancient Zapotec civilisation and one of the most influential urban centers in Mesoamerica. First, you will discover the world of ancient mezcal. Discover a unique process where wild agaves are distilled from the region to create an exceptional drink. During your visit, you will not only learn about each stage of its preparation, but also enjoy a guided tasting to appreciate its authentic flavours and aromas. Afterwards, we will move to a local workshop to learn about the process and history of the alebrijes. You will see how these mythical figures are hand-carved from wood and painted in intricate patterns inspired by Zapotec codices. In addition, you will immerse yourself in the tradition of tones and nahuales, discovering the meaning of these spiritual beings in the culture of the region.
