Vale do Pati Crossing – 5 days with Griô Expedições
Day 1 – Arrival in the Valley
We'll meet in the village of Guiné, where we'll start the trail up the Morro do Beco (or Aleixo) until we reach the Gerais do Rio Preto, a natural viewpoint with breathtaking views. After about 40 minutes, we'll get to the Mirante da Rampa, one of the most amazing landscapes in Chapada Diamantina.
From there, we head to the Igrejinha, a place with all the amenities for our first night.
Depending on the group's pace, we might include a visit to Cachoeirão por Cima, one of the region's most stunning postcard views.
Distance: up to 21 km
Day 2 – Viewpoints and Waterfalls
After breakfast, we'll head to the Gruta do Morro do Castelo (1,470 m altitude), where you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Vale do Calixto and Pati de Baixo.
On the way down, we'll follow the riverbed, passing by the Funil and Altina waterfalls – perfect spots for swimming and contemplation.
Distance: 8 km
Day 3 – Cachoeirão Canyon
We kick off the day with a hike through the Atlantic Forest to the refreshing Poço da Árvore. Then, we head to the Cachoeirão River, climbing up its bed to the end of the Canyon, where we'll get a stunning view of the Cachoeirão from below.
On the way back, you'll still have time to enjoy a swim in the Poção, near Mr. Eduardo, before we get to the native accommodation for a cosy night.
Distance: 14 km
Day 4 - Mirante do Império
After breakfast, we'll hit the trail to the famous Ladeira do Império. The climb is tough, but the reward comes fast: the Mirante do Império, with a sweeping view of the Pati Valley.
We'll follow the old paths of the miners, passing by the arrochador, historical ruins, and views of the Marimbus Pantanal and the Cachoeira dos Baianos canyon.
Distance: 12 km
Day 5 – Arrival in Andaraí
On the last day, we keep heading down towards the historic town of Andaraí, one of the mining landmarks in Chapada. We wrap up our journey by celebrating the trip, the stories we shared, and the connection we made between the group and this place.
Distance: 12 km
