What you can expect

  • From Calascio: E-bike tour between Campo Imperatore and the Western Canyon

Discover the most authentic side of Gran Sasso National Park on an e-bike tour through boundless landscapes, pristine valleys, and spectacular high-altitude trails. Peddle away from the traffic to the picturesque Canyon, crossing the immense expanse of Campo Imperatore.

    Full description

Set off from Calascio and enjoy an e-bike experience discovering one of the most fascinating and lesser-known routes in Abruzzo.

After a short stretch on a paved road, the route continues along old dirt tracks that go up a secluded valley in the heart of the Little Tibet of Abruzzo. Here, nature reigns supreme: high-altitude pastures, flocks, shepherds, and the silence of the mountains accompany every pedal stroke.

A stop at a mountain spring allows you to recharge your batteries before the final climb. Then, suddenly, the panorama opens up to the extraordinary vastness of Campo Imperatore: an immense plateau, where the gaze is lost among endless meadows, mountains, and skies that seem to have no boundaries. It's one of those places that leaves you breathless and makes you understand why it's known as the “Little Tibet of Abruzzo.”

The tour continues on to the famous Campo Imperatore Canyon, an environment shaped over the centuries by water and wind. Its rock walls and wild atmosphere offer one of the most surprising sceneries of the Gran Sasso.

If you wish, you can stop at Fonte Vetica to enjoy traditional Abruzzo arrosticini (lunch not included), before continuing your hike amid spectacular views.

Designed to favour dirt roads and minimise asphalt, this tour is ideal for those who want to experience an authentic adventure, cycling through some of the most iconic and unspoiled landscapes of the Apennines.

Discover the area with those who call it home.
Only our Local Guides, young people born and raised here, can take you beyond the most popular places, telling you stories, traditions, and hidden corners that only those who live in this area really know

    • Opportunity to stop at Fonte Vetica to taste authentic Abruzzo arrosticini.
