Boat cruise to the Sea Oxen Grotto
The Sea Oxen Grotto (Grotta del Bue Marino) has been one of the main attractions of Cala Gonone for decades. Discovered and promoted starting in the 1950s, it still attracts numerous visitors today, fascinated by its beauty and its unique natural environment.
The name of the cave comes from the Mediterranean monk seal, traditionally called “Bue Marino” (Sea Ox) by the local inhabitants. In the past, in fact, this striking coastal environment was one of the last places in Sardinia where the species found refuge.
The boat tour includes transport by sea to the cave, where you can visit the striking southern branch together with the official guides. The route, which lasts about an hour, is easily accessible and allows you to admire large chambers decorated with spectacular stalactites and stalagmites, striking underground lakes and fascinating natural formations. During the visit, the guides will also explain the geological history of the cave and the features of its unique ecosystem.
The overall experience lasts about 2 hours, including the return boat ride and the guided tour inside the cave.
Included in the price: admission ticket to the Bue Marino Cave.
