What you can expect

  • During this activity, you will be transported to the Cádiz of the early nineteenth century, in an immersive experience that combines history, culture and symbolism. The tour begins at the Monument to Las Cortes, an imposing tribute erected in 1912 to commemorate the centenary of the Constitution of 1812, known as “La Pepa”. Here, you'll see its sculptures and reliefs, representations of the values of freedom and justice that inspired the proclamation. An expert guide will narrate key anecdotes, explaining how Cadiz withstood the Napoleonic siege while ushering in a landmark of modern democracy.

The tour continues to the “La Pepa” Interpretation Centre, a modern space that uses interactive technology to transport the visitor to the political, social and cultural context of the time. Maps, documents and audiovisuals bring to life the debates in the Cortes of Cádiz and show the influence of the Constitution in Spain and Latin America. Here you can actively participate in interactive activities, such as “voting” on the issues that MEPs debated more than 200 years ago.

Finally, the experience culminates in the Museum of the Cortes of Cadiz, where original objects, historical documents and a famous model of the city are exhibited that helps to understand the strategic importance of Cadiz during the War of Independence. Each room of the museum reveals intimate details of the life and work of the characters who marked this historical stage.

Throughout the activity, you will not only learn, but you will feel
the pride and revolutionary spirit that permeated the proclamation of “La Pepa”. This tour combines art, history, and emotion, ensuring an unforgettable experience.
