What you can expect

Discover Buffalo’s storey through the lives of its remarkable women on a 90-minute guided walking tour. From some of Buffalo's founding mothers and trailblazers in their fields, this experience brings local history to life through personal stories and the places connected to them.

Meet your professional guide at Fountain Plaza and set off with a small group to explore key city centre sites while hearing about pioneers who helped build Buffalo. Along the way, you’ll learn about “founding mothers” and innovators across many fields—including the storey of the only home to survive the Battle of Buffalo during the War of 1812, the woman who brought the ASPCA to Buffalo (the second branch in the United States), women who ran internationally known turn-of-the-century businesses, Buffalo’s first Teacher of Colour and the first professional female architect in the nation.

This tour is designed for curious travellers and locals alike: it’s walkable, story-driven, and focused on the people behind the city’s landmarks. Bring comfortable shoes, arrive a bit early, and get ready to hear Buffalo's storey through the voices we don't always hear from—the women who left a lasting mark on its culture and community.
