An expression of the timeless aspects of Moroccan life, the ramparts dominate Marrakech with their characteristic red stone walls and superb gates. Over 6 miles long, the city ramparts are among Marrakech's main attractions. Well-preserved with height ranging from approximately 25 to 32 feet (8 to 10 m), 10 gates pierce the wall making entry points. The best-known of these gates is Bab Khemis, but several gates have also been models for other Moroccan cities.
