From Curchi, we continue to Old Orhei, Moldova's most iconic historical and archaeological complex. Nestled in a spectacular limestone canyon carved by the Răut River, Old Orhei is a place where history and nature come together. Visit the famous cave monastery carved into the cliffs by Orthodox monks centuries ago, admire breathtaking panoramic views over the valley, and discover the fascinating stories of the ancient civilisations that once lived here.
During our visit, we'll also explore the charming Butuceni Village, one of Moldova's most picturesque and authentic rural settlements. Walking through its quiet streets, you'll experience traditional village life, admire beautifully preserved stone and clay houses, meet friendly locals, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere that has changed very little over the generations. Butuceni offers a unique glimpse into Moldova's rural traditions and is considered one of the country's most beautiful villages.
After exploring Old Orhei and Butuceni, you can choose to continue with an optional visit to Cricova Winery (subject to availability, not included in the price ). Cricova is one of the world's largest underground wine cities, with more than 120 km (75 miles) of limestone tunnels transformed into streets lined with millions of bottles of wine. During the guided tour, you'll travel through the underground galleries by vehicle, learn about Moldova's centuries-old winemaking traditions, visit impressive wine collections, and, depending on the selected programme, enjoy a tasting of exceptional Moldovan wines.
