This experience offers travellers a complete introduction to Albania’s wine tradition in a warm and intimate setting.
The experience includes a guided wine tasting with 3 carefully selected Albanian wines, thoughtfully paired with traditional local food and accompanied by a cultural presentation.
The wine selection features labels from respected Albanian producers such as Çobo Winery, Nurellari Winery, and Pupa Winery, depending on availability.
During the tasting, guests learn about grape varieties, aromas, structure, production methods, and the unique characteristics of Albanian terroir. The experience concludes with a traditional digestif (Raki Berati or homemade liqueur) accompanied by small local sweets.
Each guest receives a personal tasting plate including traditional specialities such as byrek, pispili, cheese with pastry and honey, mini meat and vegetable meatballs, stuffed focaccia, oven-baked potatoes, and white cheese. Additional shared dishes may include marinated olives, traditional fërgesë or fried peppers with ricotta, and homemade pickles. Wines are thoughtfully paired with the dishes, and the host explains how flavours and textures complement one another.
Beyond the tasting, guests enjoy a short introduction to the history of Berat and the Mangalem quarter, as well as the storey of Zonja Gjene. The experience also includes an overview of Albania’s wine tradition and its deep connection to hospitality and the Albanian table, along with guidance on how to taste wine in a professional yet accessible way.
The atmosphere is warm, interactive, and welcoming. Guests are encouraged to engage, ask questions, and connect with local culture. This experience is ideal for travellers seeking authentic food, wine, and cultural immersion in one of Albania’s most historic cities.
