Know before you book

  • Children 17 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  • You must be 8 years or older.
  • You must weigh less than 230 pounds (104 kg).
  • If you have back, neck, joint, or muscular problems, you should carefully consider whether to participate.
  • Rides go rain-or-shine, guests must be prepared for the weather conditions
  • Required to arrive 30 minutes prior to the booked tour start time.
  • Riders must be physically capable of controlling the horse during the ride without assistance
  • Adults must sign a waiver for all activities, and a waiver must also be completed by the parent or legal guardian of any person under the age of 18 (documentation may be required to confirm the signatory’s authority).
  • Regrettably any disabilities or special needs riders cannot be accommodated.

What you can expect

Saddle up for a journey through the celebrated landscape of Banff National Park on this guided horseback riding adventure. Get out of the car and onto the trails of the Bow River and enjoy the area’s beautiful outdoor environment, largely unchanged from the days of the pioneers. This equine-themed odyssey includes a guide, use of a horse, and all necessary equipment.

Whether you're a novice rider or advanced, there's a friendly horse to fit your needs. Riding instructions are given on-site and you're free to ask your guide any questions. While on the trail, lead, and trail riders are there to assist you and provide their own insight into the magnificent natural surroundings.

Bow River Ride (1 hour): Ride along the tranquil Bow River, pass by the historic Cave and Basin and as you follow the winding trail on this ride, you’ll get unspoiled views of the magnificent Rocky Mountains the entire time.
