After meeting in Ivalo, we begin the Aurora Hunting adventure by driving away from light pollution to areas with the best chances of clear skies. Because weather conditions in Lapland can change quickly, travelling by car allows us to search a wider area for open sky. We follow both cloud forecasts and aurora forecasts to maximise the chances of seeing the Northern Lights. The main goal during the tour is to find clear skies, as this is the most important factor for seeing the aurora. During the tour we stop at scenic locations where you can enjoy the Arctic night and look for the Northern Lights. If needed, we have warm jackets available, and you can always warm up inside the vehicle. The tour lasts about 4 hours. The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and can never be guaranteed, but in Ivalo they are visible on average about 5 out of 7 clear nights. If weather conditions appear hopeless due to heavy cloud cover, we will inform you no later than 3 hours before the tour. You can then choose to reschedule, cancel, or still join the tour. If we go out, we will always do the best to find clear skies.
