What you can expect
Begin your day with a journey to the Ruta del Sillar, a route rich in history and living culture. Visit quarries and areas where the sillar stone originated. Make a brief stop at a strategic point to admire the volcanoes and the Chilina Valley. Depending on the time of year, you might also visit another traditional viewpoint with volcano views.
Next, head to the Añashuayco Quarry, arriving in about 45 minutes. This quarry is still in operation, and you can see an immense canyon with ignimbrite cliffs formed by the extraction of sillar stones. Learn about the history of sillar, its production, and its traditional uses. See a mega carving of the Church of the Company of Jesus made by the quarry workers. Visit one of the workers to learn about their daily work and experience cutting a stone block yourself.
Then, travel to the Quebrada de Culebrillas, located 30 minutes from Añashuayco. Take a 20-minute walk through the small canyon formed by water, with walls 15 to 20 metres high. As you go deeper, the canyon walls increase in height. At the end of the walk, see petroglyphs made by the Wari culture over a thousand years ago. Before returning to the city, observe the Apachetas, stone formations stacked on top of each other, symbolising gratitude to nature and bringing good luck.
In the evening, join a pub crawl through the heart of Arequipa. Start at 9 PM in front of the iconic Cathedral of Arequipa in the Plaza de Armas. After a warm welcome and a quick introduction to the night’s plan, head out to explore three lively bars and end the night in a vibrant nightclub.
At each stop, enjoy a shot and a welcome cocktail to truly taste the local flavours of Arequipa. Skip the lines with VIP access to all venues. Throughout the night, your personal guide will keep the energy high with fun games and activities to break the ice and keep the group lively and connected. Benefit from exclusive discounts and promotions at each bar, making this more than just a night out, but a complete experience of the city’s nightlife culture.
Meet other travellers, soak up the local atmosphere, and dance the night away in Arequipa’s best venues. It’s the perfect way to explore the city’s nightlife and create unforgettable memories.
