What you can expect
1. This Arashiyama sightseeing tour takes you around Arashiyama's famous sites. Your first destination is Tenryuji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its expansive gardens. The temple's scenery, especially its gardens, offers stunning views throughout the seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, lush greenery in summer, vibrant foliage in autumn, and tranquil snowscapes in winter. Spend a peaceful moment surrounded by beautiful nature and reflect on the weight of history.
Next, you'll stroll through the bamboo forest path. You'll walk along a path lined with towering bamboo swaying. The sound of the bamboo rustling in the wind creates a tranquil atmosphere that makes you feel like you're in another world. You'll forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of nature. Finally, you'll visit Togetsukyo Bridge, the symbol of Arashiyama. The picturesque harmony of the bridge and the surrounding landscape captivates visitors. The view from the bridge at sunset is especially breathtaking and will be etched in your memory. Capture these wonderful moments on camera to create lasting memories.
2. Try your hand at Kyoto's traditional handicraft, “Hand-painted Yuzen.” In this experience, you'll learn about its history and techniques while creating your own unique piece using vibrant colours. The experience involves choosing your own design and decorating a handkerchief, mask, school tote bag, T-shirt, or other items using eight colours of dye, using this traditional Kyoto craft.
The experience lasts approximately one hour.
3. The Appeal of the Embroidery Museum: Next, we'll take you to the adjacent Embroidery Museum. The museum is divided into four exhibition rooms themed around “flowers, birds, wind, and moon,” and displays approximately 80 exquisite pieces of Kyoto embroidery. Woven with ultra-fine threads, the pieces are breathtakingly intricate and almost lifelike. Upon entering the exhibition space, you'll be awed by the scale and beauty of the exhibits. The exquisite blend of colours and techniques captivates visitors. Furthermore, your guide will explain the techniques and history of embroidery, as well as the artist's thoughts behind the work, providing an even deeper impression. Embroidery is more than just decoration; it is an art that reflects culture and history. By experiencing it first-hand, you will gain a new perspective and be deeply moved by the artistry.
