TREASURY OF ATREUS. Just before the main Archaeological site lies The Treasury of Atreus or Tomb of Agamemnon. Probably the largest and best preserved Beehive tomb in existence. An incredibly impressive structure, in entering you will pass under the enormous monolithic entrance stone weighs around 120 tonnes. See if you can guess how the stones were made, from where they came from, and how they were constructed some 3000 years ago!

TOURING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE. With your informative guide you will explore all of the sites highlights of the imposing remains of Ancient Mycenae, one of the most important sites in the development of Ancient Greece. Not only central to the ‘Mycenaean period, from 1600 to 1100 BC which formed the first major widespread civilisation in Europe at the time, but also home to the palace of the legendary Agamemnon, leader of the Greeks during the Trojan War. Passing through the 20-meter wide city walls, entering through the gigantic lion's gate and exploring Agamemnon’s throne room and associated Toombs of the site with their huge construction is an amazing experience. Excavations of its various Toombs to date have uncovered over 15Kg of gold and other famous & priceless treasures, many of which you will see in its modern on-site museum including Agamemnon's death mask.
