We experience Amsterdam like true Amsterdammers – by bike.
This tour is not a list of landmarks. It's a journey through the history of a city – told in the places where it really happened.
We start at the Brouwersgracht, where Amsterdam once emerged from the water – a fishing village that was to become the most powerful trading city in the world.
At the West India House, we dive into the Golden Age: the era when Amsterdam's ships dominated the world's oceans and the city became the richest of its time. But every shine has its downside – at the Torensluis Bridge, we talk openly about the dark side of this wealth: colonialism and slavery, on which part of this prosperity was built.
Next, we continue to the Westerkerk and the Anne Frank House – places that tell the storey of the independence of the Netherlands and one of the most moving periods in the city's history: the Jewish history of Amsterdam.
We will take a break in the Vondelpark – with coffee, cake or a beer in the beer garden. Time to take a breather, share stories, and get to know each other better.
At the Museumsplatz, we will finally clarify what is probably the most important question of all: Have there always been so many bicycles in Amsterdam?
The tour ends at one of the city's hidden gems – the Begijnhof, a quiet 14th-century courtyard that most visitors never get to see. Let yourself be surprised…
After the tour, we will be happy to answer any remaining questions – and give you personal recommendations for more unforgettable days in Amsterdam.
