Begin your day with a quick city drive through Ambikapur. Visit the Mahamaya Temple, an important religious spot, and drive through local markets to see tribal handicrafts, especially in areas like Kailashpuri.
After city sightseeing, drive to Tattapani, around 12 km from Balrampur, for its natural hot springs. Relax in the springs, believed to have therapeutic properties, and visit the nearby Shiva temple.
Next, head towards Mainpat, known as the “Shimla of Chhattisgarh.” On the way, stop at Parpatiya Sunset Point for panoramic vistas, and visit Ulta Pani (Bisar Paani), a gravity hill where water seems to flow uphill, creating a fascinating optical illusion.
Continue to Tiger Point Waterfall, one of the waterfalls in Mainpat, and visit the Buddha Temple, reflecting the Tibetan presence and peaceful hill ambiance.
After hill sightseeing, enjoy a picnic or lunch in the scenic areas of Mainpat. Alternatively, trek to nearby viewpoints or small waterfalls.
If you’re interested in wildlife and have enough time, consider a quick drive through or into Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary, located near Ambikapur. Depending on the season and timings, it may or may not be feasible to go deep into the sanctuary in just one day.
In the evening, return to Ambikapur. If time permits, stop at Sunset Point in or near Ambikapur for a pleasant view, or stroll around Oxygen Park in the city for a relaxing end to the day. Finally, try local Chhattisgarhi cuisine at a local restaurant and explore local markets for souvenirs, including tribal handicrafts and woven fabrics.
