Punakha Dzong

Located at the confluence of the Pho Chhu (father) and Mo Chhu (mother) rivers, it serves as the administrative centre of Punakha district and was the former capital of Bhutan.
Punakha Suspension Bridge
Visit one of the longest suspension bridges in Bhutan, which spans the Pho Chhu and offers stunning views of the river and valley. The bridge is used by local villagers to access the town’s markets and surrounding rice fields.

Begin your day early with a hearty breakfast before heading out for the hike to one of Bhutan’s most revered and iconic landmarks, the Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang Monastery). Nestled at an altitude of 3,120 metres, this monastery is perched on a cliff about 900 metres above the Paro Valley. Start of the Hike: The trail to Tiger’s Nest starts at the base of the mountain, where ponies can be hired for the ascent part of the hike. The hike is generally split into two parts, with a cafeteria situated midway that offers a great view of the monastery and serves as a good spot for a short rest. Reaching the Viewpoint: The second part of the hike is where the real climb begins, with numerous steps and a path that winds up the cliff, leading directly to the monastery. This part of the trek requires a good level of fitness.
Kyichu Lhakhang
