Embark on a journey through Western Serbia, following the footsteps of two of the most important Serbian Orthodox saints of the 20th century — St. Nikolaj Velimirović and St. Justin Popović of Ćelije.
Visit five remarkable Orthodox monasteries — Lelić, Ćelije, Kaona, Jovanje, and Pustinja — each offering its own storey, spiritual tradition, and connection to the rich religious heritage of this part of Serbia.
At Lelić Monastery, discover the legacy of St. Nikolaj Velimirović, one of Serbia's most influential theologians, bishops, and spiritual writers. Born in the village of Lelić, St. Nikolaj spent his final years in the United States. His relics were returned to Lelić in 1991, and the monastery remains an important place of pilgrimage.
Continue to Ćelije Monastery, closely associated with St. Justin Popović, one of the most important Serbian Orthodox theologians and spiritual thinkers of the 20th century. He spent decades here in prayer, study, and writing, and his spiritual legacy continues to attract pilgrims and visitors from around the world.
The journey then continues to Kaona, Jovanje, and Pustinja, where centuries-old monasteries, peaceful landscapes, and secluded surroundings offer a different perspective on Serbia's Orthodox heritage.
