What you can expect

This half-day trip of hiking and paddling on the Wailua River is a must-do activity while on Kauai. With an easy-going voyage in a tandem kayak and a moderate hike to a beautiful waterfall, you can truly appreciate the diversity and stunning beauty of the island, an outdoor enthusiast's paradise.

Enjoy the serene surroundings of the Wailua River as you paddle in a tandem kayak. Your local guides share the rich Hawaiian history and legends of the Wailua River Valley while serenading you with a ukulele or sharing local music. After paddling up the river’s North Fork, begin your moderate 2-mile (3-km) hike through a tropical rainforest.

Make your way along the muddy trail and admire the views of the sacred valley lined with scenic waterways, Hawaiian ruins, and native flora and fauna. Then get an opportunity to swim and eat lunch at the beautiful 120-foot (36-m) Uluwehi Falls, also known as Secret Falls. After enjoying the view at Secret Falls, this eco-adventure concludes.
