Activity itinerary

Cenote Negro
  • 15m
Bacalar Black Cenote, also known as Witch Cenote, is an impressive natural formation that stands out for its dark and deep waters, reaching more than 100 metres deep. Its colour is due to the contrast between the rocky bottom and the dense underwater vegetation. It is an emblematic stop during boat tours, ideal for taking photos and admiring its beauty from the surface. For safety and conservation reasons, swimming is not allowed at this site, so the visit is limited to a visual stop from the boat. Still, its imposing presence makes it one of the most enigmatic points of the Laguna de Bacalar.
Cenote Esmeralda
  • 15m
The Emerald Cenote is a natural gem located inside the Laguna de Bacalar. Its name comes from the intense emerald green colour that characterises it, the result of the mixture of minerals and groundwater streams that emerge in this area. It is a point of great depth that creates a striking contrast with the turquoise waters that surround it. During boat tours, you stop to admire its beauty and learn about its ecological importance, as here is one of the water eyes that feed the lagoon. However, for safety and preservation, swimming is not allowed at this site. The visit is limited to watching it from the boat.
Cenote Cocalitos
  • 15m
The Cenote Cocalitos, known as the "Sanctuary of the Stromatolites", is one of the most emblematic natural jewels of Bacalar. Its shallow and crystal clear waters allow us to observe closely these millennia-old formations, considered the oldest living organisms on the planet. However, due to its fragility and to preserve this unique ecosystem, swimming is prohibited in the areas where the stromatolites are found. Therefore, during the boat tours of the Laguna de los Siete Colores, Cocalitos is a stop to admire from the boat, without the possibility of entering the water in that specific area. This measure seeks to protect and conserve this natural treasure for future generations.
Balneario Cocalitos (Cocalitos Beachclub)
  • 30m
Just a few metres from Cenote Cocalitos, boat tours make a stop in a low and crystal clear area of the Laguna de Bacalar, ideal for swimming and relaxing. This swimming spot stands out for its shallow waters, sandy bottom and characteristic turquoise colour that gives its name to the Seven Colours Lagoon. It is a safe and perfect place to dive, float or just enjoy the scenery. Unlike other deeper or more delicate points, swimming is allowed here, making it one of the most anticipated moments of the tour.
Los Rápidos de Bacalar
  • 30m
The Rapids of Bacalar are a natural channel that connects the Lagoon of Bacalar with that of Xul-Ha, generating a constant stream of crystal clear water. It is an ideal place to swim, float and get carried away by the gentle flow between mangroves, stromatolites and unique rock formations. During the visit you can admire different shades of blue, aquatic life and the natural environment surrounding this protected area. It is a relaxing and visually stunning experience, perfect for those looking to enjoy the lagoon in a different way.
Isla de los Pájaros
  • 20m
Bird Island is a small island located within the Bacalar Lagoon, known for being a natural sanctuary where various species of birds, such as herons, pink spatulas and cormorants, inhabit and nest. Its dense vegetation and tranquility make it a key point for bird watching and contemplation of the local ecosystem. During boat tours, a stop is made in front of the island to admire it from the boat, as for conservation reasons it is not allowed to descend or swim in this area. It is a protected space that highlights the natural wealth of Bacalar.
Canal de los Piratas
  • 45m
The Pirate Canal is one of Bacalar’s most iconic destinations, Quintana Roo. This natural canal connects the Laguna de Bacalar with the Río Hondo and owes its name to the stories of privateers who, during colonial times, used this route to plunder the region. During boat tours, you sail through the canal, allowing visitors to appreciate its crystal clear turquoise waters and sandy bottom. Once on site, a stop is made where it is allowed to get off the boat to swim and enjoy the surroundings. The shallow waters and gentle current make this place an ideal place to relax.
