Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Paradise Amazon Lodge (Tambopata)

Day 2: Sandoval Lake Exploration – Night Walk
Wake up to the sounds of the Amazon rainforest and savour a traditional Amazonian breakfast. Explore the stunning Lake Sandoval, renowned for its rich biodiversity, where you’ll see exotic flora and fauna and observe giant river otters during a guided walk and rowing boat excursion. At night, experience an exciting nocturnal wildlife hike to spot elusive creatures of the jungle. Return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Macaw Clay Lick & Primary Forest Trek
Start with a scenic 2 hour boat tour up the Tambopata River to Collpas Tambopata Inn Lodge, passing sights of riverside birds, capybaras, and caimans. After lunch, venture into the primary Amazon rainforest for close wildlife observation, including playful monkeys. As dusk approaches, join an evening excursion with torches to spot nocturnal animals such as caimans and capybaras. Dinner at the lodge is followed by an optional short walk to observe fascinating insects and night creatures.
Day 4: Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick & Return to Puerto Maldonado
Begin early with a sunrise boat ride upstream, perfect for spotting Amazon wildlife. Arrive at the renowned Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, where thousands of parrots and macaws gather to feed. Learn about their unique dietary habits from your knowledgeable guide. After breakfast, visit a local museum to deepen your understanding of Amazon birdlife. Return to the lodge for lunch, then explore the refreshing Quebrada el Gato waterfall and learn about local agriculture. Conclude your unforgettable journey with a serene canoe ride, followed by a scenic 4x4 transfer back to Puerto Maldonado.
