This tour offers flexible starting points, including Yogyakarta, Surakarta, Banyuwangi, and Bali. Please note that for departures from Banyuwangi and Bali, the itinerary will operate in reverse order.
Day 1: The Cultural Gems of Yogyakarta Begin your adventure with a pickup from your accommodation. Head straight to the magnificent Borobudur Temple, the world’s largest Buddhist monument. Learn about its intricate carvings and spiritual history. In the afternoon, visit the towering Prambanan Temple, a 9th-century Hindu masterpiece dedicated to the Trimurti. Experience the contrast between these two ancient faiths before settling in for the night.
Day 2: Scenic Drive to Eastern Java Leave the city behind as you travel across the lush landscapes of Central and East Java. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours via the Trans-Java toll road. Along the way, enjoy the changing scenery from rice paddies to rugged mountain ranges. Arrive at the village of Cemoro Lawang or Sukapura, the gateway to Bromo, and enjoy a cool evening at high altitude.
Day 3: The Sea of Sand & Mount Bromo Sunrise Wake up early for a 3:00 AM Jeep departure to Penanjakan Hill. Watch the sun rise over the iconic Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, creating a silhouette of volcanoes against a golden sky. Afterwards, cross the “Sea of Sand” and climb the stairs to the rim of Bromo’s active crater. Following breakfast at your hotel, continue the 6-hour journey to Banyuwangi, the base for your Ijen trek.
Day 4: The Electric Blue Fire & Ijen Crater Start your final day at midnight with a hike up Mount Ijen. Witness the rare natural phenomenon of the Electric Blue Fire, caused by ignited sulfuric gases. As dawn breaks, admire the world’s largest acidic turquoise crater lake. After descending, you will be transferred to Ketapang Port for your ferry to Bali, or returned to a drop-off point of your choice.
