Unlike so many refurbished buildings that appear to lose all character, The Old Clare is a hotel that has managed to retain its rich, other era charm whilst seamlessly incorporating a distinct modern flair. Once the site of the heritage-listed Carlton & United Breweries administration building and the iconic Clare Hotel pub, the adjoining buildings have now been transformed into a stylish boutique hotel.<\/p>\n

Located on the CBD outskirts, in trendy Chippendale, the 62-room hotel sits alongside bustling Kensington Street \u2013 a street awash with cool bars, restaurants and hidden alleyways. It feels a bit off the beaten path but is less than a 20-minute walk from tourist hubs like Darling Harbour and Hyde Park.<\/p>\n

The suspended metal staircase, cubic window design, scattering of macabre dentist chairs and encased ladder down into the dark basement help the lobby act as a sort of museum or portal into the building\u2019s heritage.
