How do I reach tier status with One Key?

How do I reach tier status with One Key?

It’s fast and easy to move up One Key tiers. The more trip elements you book, the more status you earn.

What’s a trip element? They’re the different parts of a trip—One Key takes every trip element into account and rewards you for it.

Trip elements include:

  • 1 air ticket (one way or return-trip)

  • 1 hotel room night (each night counts as a trip element)

  • 1 night in a holiday home

  • 1 day car hire

  • 1 return-trip ground transportation ticket (airport shuttles, transfers, etc.)

  • 1 activity ticket (a private tour, a theme park ticket, etc.)

Trip elements must be worth NZ$35 or more (excluding taxes and fees) to qualify.

Your tier status

Here's what you need to book to qualify for each tier:

  • Blue - sign up, it’s free!

  • Silver ‐ 5 trip elements within a year

  • Gold ‐ 15 trip elements within a year

  • Platinum ‐ 30 trip elements within a year

  • So, for example, if you booked 2 nights in a hotel and a 3-day car hire, you’d collect 5 trip elements, enough to reach Silver tier status in one trip.

How do Expedia Rewards points transition over to One Key?

How do Expedia Rewards points transition over to One Key?

  • Your Expedia Rewards points will automatically be converted to OneKeyCash when you become a One Key member.

  • Confirmed points in your account will be converted into OneKeyCash at their full value, NZ$1 in Expedia Rewards Points = NZ$1 in OneKeyCash.

  • Any existing Expedia Rewards points converted to OneKeyCash will retain their original expiry dates. Your OneKeyCash (including your converted OneKeyCash) won’t expire as long as you have made an eligible booking or redeemed OneKeyCash on your account after transitioning to One Key at least once in the preceding eighteen (18) months.

  • If you have Expedia Rewards accounts in different regions, your rewards and trip elements will transfer to One Key when One Key launches in that region, and you become a One Key member in that region. Until then, you will have separate active Expedia Rewards accounts with Expedia Rewards points to use in each region where you have an account.

    • For example: If you have New Zealand and Sweden Expedia accounts, you will have separate OneKeyCash you can use in the New Zealand One Key programme, and Expedia Rewards points you can use in the Sweden Expedia Rewards programme until One Key launches in Sweden. When One Key launches in Sweden and you become a One Key member, those Expedia Rewards points will convert to OneKeyCash and combine with your New Zealand balance. Any trip elements will also be carried over as well, getting you closer to the next tier status.

  • One Key may launch in several regions at a similar time. If you're notified that your accounts across different regions are transitioning, you may not be able to see your rewards in your One Key account until the transition is complete in all regions.

How does Expedia Rewards tier status transfer over to One Key?

How does Expedia Rewards tier status transfer over to One Key?

  • Your tier will be the same or higher and we’ve unlocked a faster path to tier status, with fewer trip elements required to reach Silver and Gold.

  • We will make sure any eligible activity1 across your accounts count towards your tier status. (*Note: The email address across your accounts must match for your activity to count).

  • Existing Expedia Rewards members will have their eligible activity counted towards their One Key tier status. To calculate this, we will either take your calendar year 2024 activity OR your activity from 1 January 2025 to the date you become a One Key member, whichever is higher.

  • If you are already a member of One Key elsewhere, any eligible trip elements from New Zealand will be added to your One Key account, which can get you even closer to reaching the next tier.

  • For 2026, any trip elements collected in 2025 will count towards your 2026 status. This includes any trip elements collected in 2025 before the date you become a One Key member from any eligible activity. Tier status will be earned on a calendar year basis, from 1 Jan to 31 Dec. Your status for the upcoming year will be determined according to the number of trip elements you have collected by 31 Dec and your progress will reset as of 1 Jan.

1 ‘Eligible activity’ means: a booking made from an Expedia Rewards New Zealand and One Key account, while signed in, that: a) For Expedia Rewards, a booking that would have qualified for a trip element in accordance with the Expedia Rewards New Zealand terms in place before the launch of One Key, b) For One Key, a booking that qualifies for a trip element in accordance with the One Key terms.

What currency is linked to the OneKeyCash in my account?

What currency is linked to the OneKeyCash in my account?

  • You can earn and use your OneKeyCash on bookings made in currencies offered in participating regions; however, OneKeyCash will always be tied to the currency associated with your account. We will look at your booking activity conducted in the last 12 months in regions where you will become a One Key member and align your account currency with the region most booked in when One Key arrives in that region. If you do not have any recent bookings your account currency will be determined by the region in which you created your account.

  • For example: If you have a One Key New Zealand account, but more bookings in an Expedia Rewards Sweden account, we will adjust the currency associated with your account to SEK when you become a One Key member in Sweden.
