"The Queen’s Hotel is another beautiful historic property, and it’s clear that considerable effort is being made to preserve its character while gradually renovating it. Our room had some attractive design features and retained period furniture, although a few pieces were showing their age with minor maintenance issues. The room itself was reasonably clean, though the carpets would benefit from either a thorough cleaning or replacement. Because of the hotel’s unique layout, reaching our room with...
"3/5 – Decent stay, but tight on space
Overall an okay experience. The room was quite small for two people on a week-long trip — storage was limited and we genuinely struggled to find space to open and access our suitcases properly. It's also not a modern hotel, though that's probably fairly typical for the area.
There's also no lift, which made carrying heavy luggage up to the room a real struggle. The hotel is right next to a main road, so it was noisy even with the windows closed.
On the plus...
"Positive:
- Great location: within where activity is happening at Penzance and close to the big car park. So pretty convenient
- Lovely decoration
- Charm of an historical building
What can be better:
- Not adapted for light sleepers. Quite noisy especially on Saturday nights because of the pub in front of the hotel. The charm of an old building has also the downside you hear the shower, the coffee machine and the vibration of the fan from the rooms around.
- There is a security for preventing...
"I was very disappointed with my stay. The room was in poor condition and did not meet my expectations. The carpet near the entrance was old and worn, while the toilet and shower were in an unacceptable state. The entrance door to the room was extremely old and appeared to be in need of replacement. Overall, the room was poorly maintained, and the quality of the accommodation did not justify the standard that was advertised. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements"
"Loved staying at this Shepherd's Hut! We wouldn't normally book a 'hut' but were captivated by the photos and liked the extra space with a separate sleeping section. Stayed 5 nights. This is a special place with it's private, secluded garden and attention to detail. Beautifully laid out, very clean, comfortable, and everything you need - plus a welcome pack! There is a stone path and steps to the property which is quite magical but might not suit everyone. Host provided all details in advance...
