Yeongjong Island Kid friendly Holidays

I was in Asia for a month and this was the worst hotel i stayed in, by far. It was listed as 4 star. It had no concierge. Well, it had a desk but when i asked they said no more concierge. Once i saw someone there, a staff member and he waved me to the front desk. The lobby is empty, only a few seats and nothing else. There is seating to the left and it is cordonned off. Front desk staff were ok at check in (not great) and were totally unhelpful if i had any questions. I asked for a suggestion of a Korean restaurant. The front desk staff said "McDonalds" and laughed. I told him i didn't have cash and he gave me directions to a street market that didn't take credit card. The room itself was ok, but old looking. It was the style where you have to put your keycard in for electricity and they wouldn't give me two. There was no easily reachable outlet next to the bed, which i needed. There was no real desk. Just a shelf above the tv with a chair in front. the shelf was high, and the chair lower than normal so i had shoulder pain after doing computer work. this was an EXPENSIVE hotel and totally not worth it. the only thing it has going for it is location. Would definitely not stay there again, and by their attitiude, they won't miss me...

Fairmont Hotel experience has always been fantastic including this one. It was a little surprising to see that the shower head was old and rusty, and was not spraying properly. It’s not a big deal but a minor detail.

Perfect location, I had the prime view room, overlooking the Han River and most of the city, it was pretty cool. First, I understand the need to be more eco- conscious, I am all for it, but I think, it should not be categorized by Expedia as a Luxury hotel if amenities are not for free. That literally is the meaning of luxury. They charge for 1,000 Korean Won for the dental kit and just the simple hygiene kits that are usually free from luxury or 5 star hotels. There was also an incident of miscommunication when I was using their gym facilities, and I was at the peak of my work out on the treadmill, the hotel worker asked me to leave because it’s 11am and it’s time to clean the gym. I am all for that, but I hope they should have not let me in or they should have told me that that was going to happen before letting me in. But later on they said, it was just the pool facilities. At this point I already left the treadmill halfway my workout. But the hotel worker was very apologetic when the misunderstanding was cleared which I appreciate. The breakfast was good, add the good view. Otherwise, I think Expedia has to rethink their category, just because the location is prime, I don’t think it should be considered a luxury hotel.

Good location near two different metro lines but quiet at night. Comfortable room and bed with a powerful shower. Free facemasks, herbal teas and water were a bonus! Staff were friendly and helpful. The keycode lockers in the entrance were useful for leaving luggage before check-in.
