Disappointing stay. Why offer a kitchenette in rooms with a hob if you’re not putting cook ware and utensils in the room. Even had to ask for dinner plates. Hotel has potential but in desperate need of some investment. Carpet in particular needs replacing as was significantly damaged in my room. Location is ok for business but is some distance away from main tourist attractions

Wonderful central location, close to port, ships, restaurants. Clean, quiet, secure- recommended.

We were happy with the location, only a short stroll to restaurants, shopping, bars and the famous cafes of Cuba Street. Te papa Museum is also in close proximity.

Clean rooms, comfy beds and great location. Staying here quite a bit and always been great.

Immaculate rooms, quality breakfast

The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the very bright light on the TV while trying to sleep, and I couldn't get the casting to the tv to work. But other than than, all good.

Enjoyed my stay at Gilmer

This hotel is down an alleyway surrounded by bars- please keep this in mind if you are a solo female traveller. The location is great, close to Cuba street and Te Papa. The only downside of being in this area is the bars surrounding this hotel, as it is quite noisy at night. It doesn’t attract the nicest people to the alley. This hotel has no physical reception, so felt like there wasn’t anywhere we could go to ask questions or request more towels etc. The restaurant below the hotel is very good- however the smell of food did woft into our room. We liked the decor, and the shower was fantastic! We liked how they embraced the heritage of the building through the artwork and exposed walls.
