Provence Beach Holidays

As other have pointed out this is an older Belle Époque hotel which has lots of fading charm and some real character. It’s set back from the busy seafront in a large tropical garden - we had a sea facing room on an upper floor so the view of the sea and coast as well as the gardens was beautiful. The room was spotless, but small (that may just be the level of room we booked however). Some parts of the hotel could do with some tlc but for the location - a minute or two’s walk from the beach - it was good value. The pool is medium sized and was busy with families, but there seemed to be room for everyone and it was friendly (it was August, so the whole of the Côte d’Azur is super busy!). The staff at the hotel were very helpful and breakfast on the terrace was decent. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel as there is a wide choice of dining options on the seafront and the road just back from the beach - at all levels and prices. There is a huge parking area by the back of the hotel and a lift from that level, so it was easy to unload and load up.

Big rooms, excellent reception team, spoke multiple languages really well, friendly too. Hotel pool is good and on the decking really does over look the entry, exit of vieux port, so you can watch the boats come and go. Excellent location, walking distance from vieux port and Catalan beach, which although small is an oasis for the city. Cool city. Easy to do boat trips to calanque and easy to get to main train station for trips to aix en provence and Avignon. Marseille really is special, it's worth spending the time to get into it.
