Overall I felt like I had stepped back in time for a 1980s cruise ship vibe. The whole place reeked of smoke. My room was above a club that was going non stop even on a Monday. The check in was all automated at a kiosk and of course there were $70 per day in additional fees not disclosed on expedia when I booked. The only respite of the trip was the most amazing steakhouse. Honestly it was one of the best steaks I have ever eaten, and it was the only restaurant in the building that didnt smell like smoke. The steak alome made the trip worthwhile.

Restaurants are not up to par

The booking said that there was breakfast daily but there is a restaurant on site that’s not open for breakfast and there is no breakfast included in the booking. The coffee machine in the room didn’t work and when checking in we had difficulty getting into the room as the number wasn’t clear. We loved all the games in the courtyard and the fire pits

My stay at The Ritz Carlton O’ahu, Turtle Bay exceeded all my expectations! I arrived early and was anticipating needing to wait a bit to check-in to my room, but to my delight, my room was ready AND I received a free room upgrade to ocean view. I almost fainted when I got to my room and saw the view I had from my lanai! All of the staff was warm, welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable about the island and activities. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that me and my family had the most perfect experience. The only thing I made note of is that there are people not staying at the property that come to visit, and they try participating in the activities that are exclusively for hotel guests - this happened twice for activities I was attending (lei making and hula dancing). I was surprised that non-resort guests were allowed to participate. That’s what our resort fees go towards, I believe. Anyways, that was minor in the grand scheme of things. This resort and the staff are top notch! I had the best time here and wept when I had to leave. I hope to return someday.

We stayed in the Diamond Head Tower and the beds were very uncomfortable. Room was clean but dated and needs updating for the nightly fees that Hilton is charging. A good but tired facility.

The departure ceremony was beautiful.

The only negative was having to wait an hour in line to check in on a Saturday at 3pm. They only had two employees behind the counter for the check in line. They should know better and not subject their helpful staff to complaints due to lack of management.
