Mövenpick Balaland Resort Lake Balaton

8/10 Good

"Excellent room and facilities. Room and certain other areas such as softplay, could have been cleaner, with dust build up around edges. Some of the hotel seemed a bit disorganised. Booked a takeaway breakfast for an early flight home, and the employee at the front desk claimed that this was not possible. Kitchen staff acknowledged that it had been ordered, but when to check if it was finished and never came back. Kids club activities didn't run to schedule. Pool opening times seemed to change each day. Overall a brilliant hotel for kids, just needs some more attention to detail to be truely amazing."

BIRGÉS HOTEL Lifestyle and View

10/10 Excellent

"Dear BIRGÉS Hotel Team, We would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful experience we had at your beautiful hotel. From the moment we arrived, everyone was incredibly kind, friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Your hospitality truly made us feel special and comfortable. The spa facilities are absolutely amazing! Everything is exceptionally clean and well-maintained, including the saunas and pools. The massage services were excellent, and our room was spotless, cozy, comfortable, and beautifully designed. The food was outstanding! Both breakfast and dinner exceeded our expectations. We also truly appreciated the professional and convenient bicycle rental service. One of the things we loved most about BIRGÉS Hotel is the atmosphere. Although the hotel is luxurious, elegant, and beautifully designed, it never makes guests feel that they need to be wealthy or pretend to be someone they are not. We could simply be ourselves, relax, and enjoy everything in a warm, welcoming, and respectful environment. To us, that is what true luxury and exceptional hospitality are all about. Thank you so very much to the entire BIRGÉS Hotel team for your hard work, dedication, kindness, and outstanding service. You have created a truly special place, and we are grateful for the wonderful memories. God bless BIRGÉS Hotel, its wonderful staff, and everyone who makes this beautiful place so special! With sincere appreciation and warmest regards, Istvan & Adrien"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Zics?

The best area to stay in Zics is directly within the village itself, particularly near the main road (Road 65) or the surrounding, slightly elevated areas.

Zics is a small, quiet village in Somogy County, offering a peaceful rural experience. The main street, often referred to as Fő utca, runs through the centre, where you'll find the local church and a few small, essential shops. The village is surrounded by rolling hills and agricultural land, giving it a very open and natural feel. Accommodation typically consists of guesthouses or renovated farmhouses.

For couples seeking a relaxing getaway, staying in Zics offers a tranquil base to explore the Hungarian countryside. You'll find opportunities for leisurely walks through vineyards or along quiet country lanes. It's an excellent spot for unwinding and enjoying nature, with easy access to nearby thermal baths and Lake Balaton for day trips.

Families will also appreciate the calm environment of Zics. Many guesthouses offer larger spaces, often with gardens, providing children with room to play.

When is the best time to go to Zics?

The best time to visit Zics is during the late spring to early autumn months, from May to September, when the weather is most agreeable for outdoor activities.

May and June offer pleasant temperatures, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C, with the countryside in full bloom. This period is excellent for those who enjoy hiking or exploring the local vineyards without the peak summer heat. It's a lovely time for couples seeking a peaceful getaway and a chance to enjoy nature.

July and August are the warmest months, with temperatures often reaching 25°C to 30°C. This is ideal for visitors looking to enjoy the nearby Lake Balaton, which is about an hour's drive away, for swimming or watersports. Families often find these months great for a holiday, as the warmer weather allows for plenty of outdoor fun.

September brings slightly cooler temperatures, usually between 15°C and 22°C, and the start of the grape harvest season. This month is particularly appealing for travellers interested in experiencing local traditions and wine tasting.
