The house was in a wonderful location! It is on a lovely street that goes in to town. We LOVED the neighborhood-many wonderful walks to take in the area. It is in a neighborhood that looks like an enchanted village, right on the harbor. There are scenic walking trails close to the house and it is within walking distance to an upscale Inn/restaurant and the beach. There is spacious parking for 6 vehicles and plenty of room for up to 9 vehicles, outdoor seating, fire pit, and a nice fenced-in yard. Upstairs bedrooms fronting on York St were noisy all night, but others were not. The beds were comfortable- mattresses were fabulous. The quiet first floor bedroom was small but with a private bathroom. The bed was very comfortable but no space for clothing as it was lacking a chair, bureau or luggage rack, or closet. The living room, dining room, and front porch were spacious and well appointed. One of the bedrooms has been recently upgraded with a spa-like bath, double vanity, large shower and whirlpool. The dining room, where we spent all our time, was great-really big table, comfortable chairs, plenty of room. Large living room too, and great porch. The kitchen was small with little counter space. Only a few people could work on food prep at the same time because the appliances, although they all worked fine, are all crowded in one corner. The kitchen was small for such a large house with only one refrigerator (when in use, blocks the entry/exit door) and dishwasher, although a small kitchen on the third floor could be used as backup.
There was no cable service available for the ample TVs and no batteries in most remotes and no instructions for their use. Wifi was strong on first floor only. Perhaps invest in a booster for the Wifi router. Great listing of "things to do & restaurants" in the area, but no emergency information listed (fire or police department, ambulance or hospital phone numbers). On Friday it was annoying to have the workers start cutting the lawn just after 7 am. Lance was a wonderful "host." He came by the house himself to make sure we were all right, if we needed anything. He told us about the walks in the area, where to eat, etc. We liked his enthusiasm. He also wrote many pages of things to do, many of which we did, and he said we could always do the tourist stuff, but these were places he knew about because he grew up in the area. All in all, we had a lovely experience for our short stay of 3 nights
