"Pension Barbara is a very cosy and clean pension right next to the paths leading up to The Brocken. The hostess was very sweet and attentive, and we had a good stay. Schierke as a town is a bit dated and quiet in the autumn, when we visited. Is was difficulty to find a place to just have a couple of drinks etc. The national park, Brocken and paths are all excellent for a short hiking-holiday. Great nature, chalenging paths (if you want it), nice restaurant on the summit."

"Nettes kleines Hotel in guter Lage und mit reichlich Parkfläche. Der Eingangsbereich ist sehr modern und einladend gestaltet, der Zimmerbereich ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und teils aus der Zeit gefallen (Flachspüler-Toiletten, Fernseher muss über zwei Remotes bedient werden). Zimmer war etwas kalt, aber ausreichend groß. Der Pool im Keller ist recht klein, sehr spartanisch gestaltet und entbehrt hinreichender Ablageflächen für mitgebrachte Gegenstände. Das Personal macht aber vieles wett,...

"Very friendly staff. Despite our very late arrival the owner of the establishment ensured me I could call him and he would assist us on the check-in. Very large, cosy and comfortable rooms. Plenty parking availability. I warmly recommend this hotel for both business travellers as tourists."
