"Quick, easy and friendly check-in. Nice bar area downstairs. Room was nice and clean, if a bit soulless. Overall good value for money in a very convenient location close to the railway station."
"Family basement room was huge and perfect for our needs. Room very clean generally though did notice a stain on the carpet (looked like makeup) but very minor. Teas and biscuits all good. Coffee machine didn’t work but we didn’t ask staff for help as we had to leave very early- check in staff seemed friendly so am sure they would have sorted. We didn’t use other facilities but overall would definitely recommend. Great location and very comfortable and reasonable price"
"no lifts in the hotel which made it difficult carrying everything upstairs. the rooms on the second floor were too hot, had to keep the windows open. rooms were spacious. lamps above the beds did not work. staff were pleasant. good parking facilities. good indoor pool bit a little worse for wear."
"The sea view was absolutely lovely, the bed was comfortable and the hotel itself has some really nice features. However, there are areas of the hotel that are looking quite tired and in need of some attention.
Our room, for example, had a large section of plaster missing from the wall above the window. When you’re paying good money for a hotel stay, you expect the room to be maintained to a decent standard, and this really let it down.
I also think the spa charges need to be made much clearer. From my messages with the hotel, it sounded as though the £40 charge was per stay, but it is actually charged per day. This meant an additional £40 on top of the room rate for just a one-night stay. I think it would be much fairer and clearer to either include spa access in the room rate or offer a one-off charge per night, rather than charging guests daily. As it stands, it feels a little misleading and leaves you feeling as though you’re not getting good value for money.
I’ve visited the spa before and do think it’s nice, but even that feels like it’s missing something and could benefit from a bit of investment.
Overall, while there were some lovely aspects to our stay, I didn’t feel that I got value for money. The hotel has potential, but it needs some updating, maintenance and attention to detail to justify the prices being charged. It’s a shame, as with a little more care and investment it could be a much better experience.."
