Dancing Bear Lodge | Where the Mountains Meet the Memories
The road climbs through a tunnel of hardwoods, rounds one last bend, and then — there it is. A handsome log lodge with a green metal roof, glowing amber against a sky streaked pink and violet, string lights already twinkling in the yard below. You park under the covered carport, step out, and hear it before you see it: the river in the valley, the birds settling in for the evening, and the kind of quiet that makes your shoulders drop two inches. The layered Smoky Mountain ridgelines stretch out in front of you like a painting that never ends. This is the view that made the owners fall in love with this place. It will do the same to you.
Inside, three levels of warm, honey-toned log walls open up into a home that was clearly built by someone who thought about every detail — and then thought about it again. The main level is anchored by an open living area with a stone fireplace, oversized leather sectionals deep enough to disappear into, and floor-to-ceiling windows that frame those mountains from every angle. The dining table seats the whole crew under vintage pendant lighting, and the kitchen is stocked well beyond the basics — stainless steel appliances, a full pantry, a gas grill out on the deck. But the thing everyone will talk about is the coffee bar. A Nespresso machine, a Keurig, a French press, a regular drip pot, a grinder with two varieties of whole bean, Torani syrups, three types of creamer, honey sticks, and more. It's the kind of setup that makes you want to wake up early on purpose. Down the hall, two king-bedded Owner's Suites wait behind closed doors — each with its own private bathroom and spa-quality sheets — the kind of rooms where adults actually get to feel like adults again.
Head downstairs and the energy shifts. A two-story game room opens up with a pool table, a full-sized arcade basketball hoop, two arcade cabinets — Pac-Man, Galaga, a Marvel battle station — a dartboard, and a poker table ringed with eight barstools. A second stone fireplace anchors a lower living area with its own leather seating, and around the corner, an eat-in kitchen leads out to the covered lower deck and the hot tub. Two more king bedrooms sit down the hall, sharing a full private bathroom. And then there's the Bear's Den — tucked halfway up the staircase behind a 5'6" doorway, this hideaway holds three queen beds, wildlife artwork on the walls, and a cozy calm that makes it feel like a world apart. For the youngest explorers, a dedicated kids' room bursts with color — a teepee with a faux campfire, chunky knit pillows in blue and gold, shelves lined with books and games, a chalkboard, a PlayStation 5, a smart TV loaded with Netflix, and a sleeper sofa for one more. It's the room your kids will beg to come back to.
When the sun starts to drop, take the whole group outside. The fire pit is surrounded by Adirondack chairs and blooming hydrangeas, string lights swaying overhead, and on a clear night the Milky Way spreads out above you like someone left the roof off the world. Or settle into a rocking chair on the upper deck with a glass of something good and watch the mist roll through the valley below. The hot tub glows blue against the dark ridge line. Someone is laughing downstairs. The kids are asleep. And for a few minutes, everything is exactly where it should be.
Five bedrooms. Four bathrooms. Sixteen guests. One lodge that earns its name every single night.

Our group of 8 kids and 8 adults had a wonderful stay in Bryson City while riding the Polar Express. The location was incredibly convenient, and the house had everything we needed. We especially loved the well-stocked coffee bar and the abundance of blankets, pillows, and towels. We had a fantastic time, and Alex was a great communicator throughout our stay. Highly recommend!
Fantastic mountain cabin! Perfect spot for a mountain golf weekend. Great location and couldn’t ask for better accommodations. We will definitely be back!
Working in town for the week and rented this cabin. Very peaceful setting in the woods. House had plenty of room for 6 adults with room to spare. Had everything you could need or want in the kitchen. Will definitely be back on vacation soon.
Our family stayed here while visiting Bryson City and were very satisfied. The house is close to town which was nice so we could get out and about. The house had everything we needed and all the games were a huge hit for my teens. Also, the king bed was extremely comfortable which hardly ever happens when traveling out of town. I would recommend to anyone!
11 family members met up to ride the polar express and enjoy time together. House was exactly as described and location was excellent. We rode the train in Bryson City, hiked at Deep Creek, and saw elk in Cherokee. At end of day enjoyed warming up in the hot tub. Great trip!
Great house with all of the amenities you may need. The coffee bar was exceptional, and the host(s) were very helpful and quick to respond to our needs. Further, our six kids, aged 7-17, loved the basement and the bears den was really cool!! We plan on staying here if we’re in the Bryson City area again.
We had a great stay at Dancing Bear. The home was spotless upon arrival and very well furnished. The large dining table was appreciated. Alex provided us excellent communication at all times, even providing firewood delivered when I mentioned we were in need. It was a nice touch and saved us time hunting it down. Would definitely return in the future if our travels take us back to this beautiful area.
Very well stocked. Every kitchen utensil you could need. Abundance of dishes and the coffee bar was amazing. Lots of extra towels and linens. Very clean! Definitely recommend for large groups.
My family and I had the most amazing weekend here! There was something for everyone young and old to enjoy! The house was gorgeous and very well stocked. The game room was a big win as was the kids bear den. The beds were all comfy and there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. A definite win!!
We stayed here for our annual weekend trip to ride the Polar Express with our family and friends. The house had everything we could possibly want, including 8 different ways to make coffee in the morning! A parent of young kids dream! It rained during our stay, but there was so much to do at the house we didn’t have to worry. We definitely plan to be back for our annual trip next year. It was the perfect vacation home for our needs!
We booked this cabin for a Spring Break trip with family and friends. The house had plenty of room and plenty of things to keep us entertained. Very easy to get to and close enough to everything. The house was very clean and exactly like the description. Alex was very quickly to respond before we arrived and stayed in communication with us the whole time. We would definitely stay at this cabin again!
First off, the owner (Alex) is so responsive and helpful. Not just with the home itself, but things to do and the area. The location of the home isn’t difficult to get to, it’s not far from the highway, or major cities for exploring. The home was superior - the coffee bar was my favorite and we enjoyed the game room as well. Was a family vacation to remember and a beautiful stay!
Dancing Bear Lodge was a perfect place to host a group of fly fishing friends! Plenty of bedrooms and private space for adults. Amazing amenities—the game room and pool table especially. The cabin was spotless; the kitchen was well-stocked; and the dining table was wonderful for meals and conversation. We all enjoyed the view from the porch.
Alex, the host, was fantastic—easy to contact and quick to reply!
The location is perfect for folks who want to visit Bryson City, the Nantahala, Cherokee, or the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Book this property—you’ll love it.
Dancing Bear Lodge was perfect for our group of 8. We had all ages from infant to adults and there was something for everyone. House was very large and spacious, and has all of the amenities. Anything I thought I was missing it turned out I just had to keep looking. For example spices, seasoning, pots all you could ask for. Will recommend to friends and am already looking to book another stay.
We had an excellent stay in your house. The amenities were great. We had twelve family members including 5 boys(ages 7,5,4,3,2). The trip was planned to take the boys on the Polar Express. This house was in a great location in close proximity to Bryson City! The owner answered a couple of check-in questions very quickly. It was a great experience.
Amazing roomy cabin exceptionally equipped with game room and hot tub. Dining table for 10. Kitchen with everything needd for cooking full dinner meals. And plenty of plates and silverware and glasses. Worth every penny.
Beautiful location with short drives to river walks blue rige parkway. Museums. Shopping. And hiking.
The property was exactly as listed. The owner was very communicative. Answered all our questions very promptly prior to our arrival. We ended up with 6 adults, ages 20-40s for our family weekend. Could’ve easily accommodated the 10 we were planning for. Everyone had a great time. Kitchen was fully stocked. Cabin was sparkling clean. Will definitely be back.
My family and I take a Thanksgiving mountain trip every year for the past 6 years, and we all agreed this was by far the best cabin that we have stayed in for our trip. There was great communication with any questions we had. The property was stocked with everything you could need/want. I am not a coffee drinker, but the coffee drinkers in my family were highly impressed with the coffee bar that was on each floor. The children absolutely loved the children's den! Beds were comfortable, and the property itself was easy to access and close to numerous small towns to explore! Highly recommend!
We had a quick family getaway at this lovely house equipped with everything you need to have a great experience. It's close to the south entrance to the Smokey's and within minutes of groceries and restaurants.
The house is exactly as describe in the listing. The accommodations are comfortable and relaxing. The hot tub wand grill were in good condition, and the fire place was easy to use (note: please check the firewood supply as we had to get our own).
The kitchen had everything you need and the coffee bar will appeal to those who love coffee and the variations thereof.
Good communication with the host and overall a great stay.
My family and I loved staying at Dancing Bear Lodge. We loved the location of the home and the views are amazing. The rooms and bathrooms were exactly as described and the kitchen was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Everyone enjoyed the game room and the fire pit was a huge hit. Those were our 2 favorite spots. The fire pit is easy to get to and there was even firewood for us in the box.
We loved that the hosts had Christmas Trees up on each floor as well! We stayed at this home during a visit to ride The Polar Express during Christmas time. It’s very convenient to the train depot as well. We will definitely be back to this home. We enjoyed our stay very much!
Loved everything about this place except a couple of things. Only two working pool sticks, one video game that was ones persons favorite was not working, the basketball goal electronics did not work until we decided to change the batteries. A master bath sink was clogged. We were a family of 11 and had enough bedrooms for all! It was very spacious and was stocked very well! We absolutely loved the coffee bars, the different options of games.
